With Voices Raised

Commissioned by the Boston Pops Orchestra for their 2000 Fourth of July concert, this piece was performed at Boston’s Symphony Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall, and elsewhere. It pays tribute to all the Americans of the past few centuries who have fought in the name of equal rights and freedom. It premiered on May 5th, 1999.
For large orchestra, mixed chorus, tenor soloist, and orators, this concert piece features an original text by Lynn Ahrens, as well as the actual words of important Americans from the past two centuries. The piece, conducted by Keith Lockhart, was released on the Boston Pops recording, “A Splash Of Pops.”
